Florida gives you a traditional Christmas, without the freezing cold weather. Disney World just before Christmas tends to be but quieter than the lead up to New Year, but otherwise the best place feel festive is St. Augustine. Their Annual Christmas Parade has been going for more than 60 years. Expect floats accompanied by marching bands, and of course Santa himself. The town hosts a month-long "Nights of Lights" celebration, where millions of little white lights twinkle in the atmospheric old town. First thing's first: if you're thinking of spending Christmas and New Year in São Paulo, you'll have a choice of 15,000 bars to celebrate in. For evening entertainment, try dancing samba at the lively Ó do Borogodó, or for decent caipirinhas go to Bar Veloso in Vila Madalena. But with the weather this hot, daytimes are best spent in Praia do Encanto, which is a short drive from the city. Goa can lay claim to being the ultimate winter sun destination. Over Christmas, expect to see lots of decorations in the shop windows as well as nativity scenes on your way to the beach. Music festival Sunburn is now a three day international event, while the Mary Immaculate Conception Church Feast in Panjiim is also one of the biggest festivals in Goa.
